Mrs. Wm. Jansen Dies; Sister Of Local Woman

Mrs. William (Bernice) Jansen, 58 of Davenport, sister of Mrs. Joe Thies of Route 6, Maquoketa, died Friday in Mercy hospital. Funeral services were held Monday in Davenport, with burial in the Lost Nation cemetery.

She was born April 1, 1902, in Jackson county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schumann. She was educated in the Jackson county schools and attended Andrew high school. At one time she was a Maquoketa telephone operator. On February 22, 1920, she married William Jansen of Elwood. Thriteen years ago they moved to Davenport. Surviving are her husband; her mother, who resides in Davenport; two sons, Capt. Willard Jansen of Albuquerque, N. Mex., and Carlisle of Davenport; two daughters, Mrs Phyllis Ann Kasnick of Davenport and Mrs. Marilyn Compton of Ludlow, Ill; four brothers, Lawrence Schumann, Reading, Pa., Arnold Schumann of Davenport, Raymond Schumann of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Inez) Thies of Maquoketa and Mrs. Everett ( Dorothy) Kingsbury of Davenport.

Preceding her in death were her father and sister.
