AN AIRDOME FOR MAQUOKETA
Maquoketa is to have an open air theatre. Messers Weber & Saunders, our progressive theatre men, who are ever thinking of the pleasure of their many patrons, have completed arrangements for a modern up-to-date airdome. They have rented the lot just west of the Elsner house and as soon as the weather permits, will break ground for the new theatre. It will be a structure about 34 x 120 feet with an 18 foot opening for the stage. The auditorium will seat close to 1000 people.
If everything goes well the theatre will be completed in early June. Maquoketa people have long felt the need of a summer amusement-a place they could frequent and be comfortably entertained on a sultry summer night. The indoor theatre, while everything has been done in the way of ventilating, cannot be made comfortable during the summer months.
In addition to the “movies” the management informs us that they will have vaudeville and occasionally will book a first class stock company. There is no question that the Airdome will be the popular resort in Maquoketa this summer.
