The Packet Boat “Minnie Schneider”

The “Minnie Schneider” has severed its connection with the Alden Line, and will be run independently this season. In regard to a new packet which is now under construction at Lyons, the Galena Gazette says: “The sons of W. J. Young are building at Lyons a new packet, which it is reported here will be the fastest and most richly appointed on the river. It will be a formidable rival of the Diamond Jo fleet. Patrick Burke of Galena will be engineer and it is reported, but without confirmation, that J. V. McCarthy and Paul Gerlich of this city, veteran employees of the Youngs, will be pilots.”
