Thomas O’Connell in State Spelling Contest

Thomas McConnell, of Andrew, winner in the annual Jackson county spelling contest held here several weeks ago, won the distinction of placing higher in the state contest at Des Moines than any other Jackson county representative.

Thomas was the eighth from the last to go down in a field of 102 contestants in the state series. He placed equally well in the written contest. Thomas is a son of Rev. and Mrs. A. J. McConnell of Andrew.
