John E. Goodenow Celebrates 75th Birthday

John E. Goodenow, the first settler and “Father of Maquoketa,” completed his 75th year on Wednesday, March 23, and a host of friends called at his home on that afternoon to congratulate him on the occasion. He is a benignant old age, blessed with health and strength, a competence gained by honest endeavor and troops of friends. Long may he enjoy all these is the wish of everybody who knows him.
