FACTS AND FIGURES CONCERNING LAND IN JACKSON COUNTY

The Milwaukee and Northwestern railroad companies have just released their completed summary of 1930 land values and other interesting data in Iowa counties. We herewith give briefly a few items which our people will perhaps read with interest. According to the railway bulletin, the estimated average true value of Jackson county land on January 1st of the present year was $96.75 per acre, while over in Clinton county the average value was $129.50. Our low figure is due to the considerable acreage of rough land in certain sections of the county which carries low valuation and which tends to bring this average below “par.” There were twenty-seven farm transactions between May, 1929 and April, 1930, involving the sale of 3,102 acres, the total consideration therefor being $344,506.00 or $111.06 per acre. There were also twenty-seven first mortgage farm loans made during this period, covering 3,484 acres of farm land.
