Charles Hershberger Badly Burned in Farm Fire Sunday

Charles Hershberger, Baldwin farmer, was seriously burned Sunday when fire destroyed a barn on his farm. Mr. Hershberger, who resides on the farm with a brother, Abe, was alone when he discovered the fire in a barn some distance from the farm home.

His clothing was apparently ignited when he attempted to battle the flames and in the excitement he jumped into a reservoir.

His brother, who returned some time later, noticed smoke coming from the structure and upon investigation found him seriously burned and swimming in the icy water of the reservoir. He was removed to a Davenport hospital where his condition is serious.
