On Sunday Dr. A.B. Bowen was invited to Canton to remove a cancer from the left cheek of Dr. M.J. Belden. Dr. Bowen assisted by W.P. Belden, M.D. and J.L. Jenkins, student of M.J., successfully performed the delicate operation, removing the scirrhous tumor and closing the incision, but causing little loss of blood. Dr. Belden has been troubled a considerable time by the tumor and determining to have it removed, relied upon the known skill of Dr. Bowen to rid him of the unpleasant, dangerous formation. Dr. Belden bore the operation without flinching, and when we last saw him, some three hours afterwards, was feeling relieved and quite cheerful. - Record - 8 Apr 1880, Jackson Sentinel, pg 1.
