THE DAILY TELEGRAM, Maquoketa, Iowa, June 11, 1898.

Volume 1, Number 1

About the TELEGRAM

Remember that the TELEGRAM reaches you over two hours before it is possible for any other evening daily to reach you and just as soon as the morning Chicago papers, the contents of which are stale in comparison with the TELEGRAM.

It is worth while for you to bear in mind that the TELEGRAM furnishes you all the local news while it is news, and a half hour’s visit with it after supper is equivalent to a whole afternoon’s visit with Mrs. Grundy.

Kindly observe that the TELEGRAM has special correspondence of the metropolitan dailies and see which gives you the most genuine satisfaction-which convinces you of being most sincere and which is obviously the product of a fertile imagination seeking facts so as to excite you.

Can you purchase any other daily for less than ten cents per week? If so, do not take the TELEGRAM, but all things being equal, won’t you support the TELEGRAM?

No other daily contains the local news. The TELEGRAM has both national and local.

Our carrier boys are each authorized to receive money on subscriptions as are also our reporters.

The TELEGRAM will esteem it a kindness if its patrons promptly inform us of any neglect or discourtesy shown by our carrier boys and will promptly rectify it.

Do not be disappointed if the TELEGRAM is not as big as your Chicago paper. Remember this is only Maquoketa. And then the TELEGRAM is only ten cents and also contains much of the latest national news and all the local news.
