SOLDIER’S MONUMENT

William Trout is trying to interest our citizens in a worthy cause by agitating the erection of a soldier’s monument in Mount Hope cemetery to be dedicated to the departed heroes of ’61 to ’65. He says there was a fund set aside at a soldier’s reunion several years ago as a monument fund which amounts at the present time to nearly $500. To raise a sufficient amount for the erection of a monument Mr. Trout suggests that an appeal be made to our citizens to add their mite, no matter how small, to the fund already on hand, so that the monument can be erected and dedicated on memorial day, May 30, 1900. Every citizen should assist in helping to raise the fund, as it is for a worthy cause.
