SOME OF NEW COURTHOUSE READY JULY 1ST

Workmen this week have begun to put the finishing touches on the exterior and parts of the interior of the new $430,000 Jackson county courthouse. Some county officers hope to be in their new locations July 1. Clifford J. Knorr, chairman of the board of supervisors, said this week that flooring has been laid, painting is nearly completed and telephones are being installed. The Courtroom isn’t finished yet, nor are the quarters for the Sheriff, the County Public Health Nurse and the Department of Social Welfare, Knorr reported.

OLD COURTHOUSE BEING DISMANTLED

The old Jackson County courthouse, built in 1873, is being dismantled this week. Art Radetzski of Nashville recently contracted to raze the structure. The old building is being replaced with a new $410,000 courthouse, just to the north of the old courthouse site.
