Former Maquoketa Lady is Called

Sunday Fred Gurius received a telegram advising him of the death of his half-sister, Mrs. Helen Leptien of Redlands, Calif. Monday a card was received from Miss Lottie Leptien, daughter of Mrs. Leptien, saying that her mother and herself had been poisoned by eating canned tomatoes. She was better but her mother was critically ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Dave Leptien for many years lived here in the second ward, moving away several years ago. Mr. Leptien passed away about seven years ago, since that time Mrs. Leptien and daughter have resided in Redlands, the daughter teaching in the schools. No particulars were given in regard to funeral or burial.
