Bishop Confirms One Hundred Children.

Right Rev. Bishop Hennessy of the Diocese of Dubuque, conferred confirmation to about one hundred children at the Catholic Church in this city on Tuesday last, and also preached a very instructive discourse to the congregation regarding the sacrament he was about to administer. The priests in attendance were Fathers Treacy of this city, Clabby of Otter Creek, Garland of Center Grove, Mulvihill of Deep Creek and McNamara of Toronto. Father Treacy had all the people assembled here from other parishes, Delmar and Hughes Settlement. On gentleman was noticed shedding tears in the church, and when asked what was the matter, he said that he wanted to be baptized and confirmed. It seems he belonged to some other denomination. Another gentleman from Delmar presented himself for baptism, who formerly belonged to the Lutheran Church, but these Father Treacy will attend to when they are better instructed in the teachings of the Catholic religion.
