Human Skeleton Reported Found Near Monmouth

There has been a report going the rounds recently that Mr. Thos. Hatfield, a resident of this place, while out bee hunting not long since, about six miles north of here in the timber, came across a human skeleton, which he has since tried to sell to one of our physicians. Our citizens of Monmouth look upon the report as a canard. We have since had a brief interview with Mr. Hatfield as regards the truthfulness of the report. He said it was true and that he had tried to get someone to go with him to the place to bring it in, but had failed as yet to convince anyone of the fact, but nevertheless it was true. We think the proper authorities ought to look the matter up.
