Andersonville Prison-

The greatest number imprisoned at Andersonville Prison was 33,000. The number of escapes was 328. The number of deaths was 12,462, about one-third of which took place in the stockade and two-thirds in the hospital. Tony Weinschenk of this city (Bellevue), was one of the 328 escapes from this prison. John Courtland of Maquoketa was also a sufferer in this prison.
