NEW TRIAL FOR WATKINS-
Watkins, who has long been a prisoner at Andrew for the supposed murder of Cronk, was granted a new trial by the Supreme Court at Des Moines, a few weeks since. What folly to again put the county to an expense of three or four thousand dollars to try Watkins, when it is so well known that he will be acquitted. Better save this amount and bring county warrants up to par, instead of having them discounted fifteen per cent., as is now the case.
