Green Island Man Faces Serious Charges

Charles Mangler of Green Island, charged with manufacturing, dispensing and having in his possession white mule hootch and who was placed under arrest a few days ago, was arraigned before Justice Frank McNear Thursday morning and waiving preliminary examination was bound over to the grand jury under bonds of $1,000. A few days ago Mangler appeared before the federal grand jury at Dubuque and was released on $2,000 bonds to appear Friday of this week before U. S. Commissioner at that place. Mangler is said to be an old offender and it is likely that his little industry at the mouth of the Maquoketa River will be called upon to surrender a considerable share of the profits before he gets untangled from this double net.
