GOODENOW – CASSIN – At the residence of the bride’s father, on Monday, September 9, 1872, by Rev. J. Gilmore, of Bellevue, Mr. Ose Goodenow, to Miss Fanny Cassin, all of Jackson county, Iowa.

It has seldom been our lot to chronicle the nuptials of so auspicious and happy a union. Mr. Goodenow is the respected son of Mr. J. E. Goodenow, an esteemed citizen of Maquoketa, and reputedly well to do in this world’s goods. Miss Fanny, after years of study and attaining high accomplishments, has bestowed her heart and hand upon one who is worthy to receive them. The wedding guests were a few intimate friends and the family connections. The marriage ceremonies were of the most impressive character, and given by Rev. Mr. Gilmore with peculiar grace and earnestness, and there were tear drops as well as smiles, when the final words were pronounced, binding them as husband and wife. The toilet of the bride and bridegroom was faultless, the wedding-dinner, a marvel of bounty and sweetness, and after two hours genial sociability, Mr. and Mrs. Goodenow started for Bellevue, to take bout for St. Paul. They went, the same night on the Dubuque, accompanied by Miss Emma Goodenow. Miss Josephine Cassin, Mrs. Redmond, and her niece, Miss Wallace; also, two ladies and gentlemen from Clinton. It must not be forgotten to mention the elegant gifts, among which were silver tea, table and desert spoons, cake basket, castor and spoon holder, the latter, inlaid with gold; French glass-ware, silver forks, pie knife, a chromo, “Easter Morning,” framed and a costly ring from D. Chas. Cassin; also, other tokens of remembrance.

May joy and love attend the newly married couple through their lives’ sunny hours, and all the happiness accorded to mortals be theirs.

“Till time’s golden sands flow down To wed supernal day.” –Bellevue Leader
