Another Victim of Whiskey

A Mr. Kimball, an old man and an old citizen of Perry Township, residing two miles southeast of Andrew, on Monday forenoon went to the stone saloon, near the Court House, in Andrew, and got drunk. Towards night a son came after the father, and failing to induce him to go home, he forebade the saloon keeper from giving him any more whiskey, and went away. The vender of rum continued to give Kimbel whiskey and carried it to him after he was too far gone to walk. Tuesday morning the old man was found still in the saloon, nearly dead, and friends attempted to remove him to a neighbor's house, but he died on the way. A coroner's jury rendered a verdict "killed by whiskey".
