Davis Appointed Justice of the Peace

Squire John Woods having refused to qualify as Justice of the Peace for South Fork Township, the Township Trustees appointed John Davis to fill the vacancy last Wednesday. Mr. Thomas Wilbur was recommended for the place by an immense number of petitioners, but failed to get it. Thus has the "sacred right" been again trampled upon.(Wilbur lost the election for Clerk of Court to E. J. Holmes by 740 votes last November)
