The case of Mrs. W. C. Boardman vs. the City of Maquoketa, for damages sustained by falling on a defective sidewalk and breaking her arm, was disposed of in the District Court, last Wednesday evening, by the jury bringing in a verdict for the plaintiff of four hundred dollars and costs. We understand that the city authorities intend carrying the case into the Supreme Court. We trust that this verdict will have the effect of waking up our city Solons to the importance of compelling the repair of other sidewalks, especially that one on the north side of East Platt. A walk at least eight feet wide should be placed on that street all the way down to the depot, and the sooner the better. The first warm weather will render the route to that locality almost impassable.
