BELLEVUE NEWS

A man giving his name as Jolin Sturtevant, aged 27, was almost killed Wednesday morning near Lainsville, when he was struck by the north bound passenger train which arrives in Bellevue at 10:19. Sturtevant and companion left Savanna early in the morning to seek employment. The Milwaukee road has a double track as far as Green Island and when the men noticed a south bound freight train they stepped from the one track to the other track, not hearing the north bound passenger which was bearing upon them. Sturtevant was struck in the back and hurled a considerable distance. His head was severely cut and his spine injured. He was taken on board the train and brought to Bellevue, and then conveyed to the Frerich’s hospital where Dr. Hanske dressed his wounds and gave other medical attention and he will recover in due time. His home is Freeport Ill., and his last employment was a creamery at Beloit, Wisconsin.
