Bridgeport.

The next effort in this direction was made by Col. Cox, who was father to the old town called Bridgeport.
His plat was on a claim he made two-and-a-half miles northeast of here (Maquoketa). There was only one drawback to this place, and that was the lack of people and houses. This project was also abandoned.
