Jackson Sentinel, August 17, 1871:

MARRIED

At the residence of the bride's father, John E. Goodenow, Esq., in Maquoketa, August 15th, by the Rev. Eli Ballou, D.D., Mr. David H. Anderson and Miss Mary L. Goodenow, both of Maquoketa.
We acknowledge the receipt of a slice of delicious cake that put all those connected with the Sentinel office in excellent humor.
David has reason to congratulate himself on his wise and happy choice, for his beautiful bride is one of the best and most accomplished young ladies of our acquaintance. He can well exclaim with Shakespeare.
"-She is mine own;
And I as rich in having such a gem.
As twenty seas, if all their sands were pearls,
The water nectar, and the rocks pure gold."
