Deed
Know All Men By These Presents, That we James Daly and Mary, his wife, of Jackson County, State of Iowa, in consideration of the sum of sixty dollars in hand paid by Matthias Loras, Bishop, of Dubuque County, State of Iowa and to his successor in office do hereby sell and convey unto the said Matthias Loras, Bishop, as aforesaid and to his successors, the following described premises, to-wit: The Northeast Quarter of the Southwest Fractional Quarter of Section Nineteen in Township Eighty seven North of Range Three East of the 5th P.M., containing forty acres more or less.
And we do hereby covenant with the said Matthias Loras, Bishop, as aforesaid, and to his successors in office, that we are lawfully seized of said premises, that they are free from encumbrance, that we have good right and lawful authority to sell and convey the same, and we do hereby covenant to warrant and defend the said premises against the lawful claims of all persons whatsoever.
Signed this eighth day of August A.D. eighteen hundred and fifty three.

On this eighth day of August A.D. 1853, before me, Joseph Birge, a Justice of the Peace, in and for said county, personally came James Daly and Mary Daly, his wife, to me known to be the identical persons whose names are affixed to the above deed as grantors, and acknowledged the same to be their voluntary act and deed.

The above deed was filed for record Sept. 11, 1855 at 8 o'clock and recorded Oct. 8th, 1855.

(Deed to Bishop Matthias Loras of land for St. Theresa's Catholic Church, located in Prairie Springs Township. The church was closed by the Archdiocese of Dubuque and sold in 2007.)
