Maquoketa Excelsior, August 17, 1865:
Soldiers' Festival-Agreeable to call, a meeting was held in the M.E.Church in Maquoketa on the 11th inst., when the following named persons were appointed a Committee of Arrangements for preparing a dinner to be given to the returned Civil War soldiers of Jackson County and vicinity on the 31st inst.: L.Catlin, J.E.Goodenow, A.Fellows, John McGregor, T. Wilbur and J.P.Eaton.
