Maquoketa Record, July 18, 1906:
Harry Sizer and George Heynan of Miles, were drowned in the Mississippi River near Port Byron on Friday last. The young men were working at bridge painting for the Milwaukee Railroad. They had been working at Port Byron, and were waiting for a train to take them to Watertown. While waiting they went bathing in the river. They stepped off from a sand bar into deep water and sank, Sizer's body was soon recovered, it is said before life was extinct, but he could not be revived. Heynan was found later. The tragic death is a great shock to relatives and deep sympathy is felt by all. They were exemplary young men and unmarried.
