Double Wedding

MAQUOKETA COUPLES WED IN DUBUQUE
The many Maquoketa friends of the contracting parties were indeed surprised to learn that Miss Dorothy Phillips and Everett Schoenthaler, Miss Louise Ray and S. Quay Nims, had quietly stolen away to Dubuque where the two couples were principals in a double wedding which took place at St. Luke's Methodist church Saturday evening at 6:45, Dr. Hugh Atchison, pastor of the church officiating.
Dr. E. A. Phillips and daughter, Charlene, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Nims, Dr. and Mrs. Ben Phillips, unexpected by the bridal parties, arrived on the scene in time to witness the ceremony.
Mrs. Schoenthaler is the elder daughter of Dr. E. A. Phillips and a graduate of M.H.S. in the class of 1919.
Mr. Schoenthaler is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Schoenthaler of Elwood, a graduate of the University of Iowa and has been practicing law in this city with his partner, H. K. Lee, for the past year.
Mrs. Nims is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Ray and has been employed for the past two years in the First National bank.
Mr. Nims is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Nims, living east of town, and has chosen for his vocation that of farming.
After the ceremony they went to the Dragon Grill where the wedding dinner was served, and left early Sunday morning for an auto trip to the Yellowstone Park after which they will be at home to their well wishing friends in their home town, Maquoketa.
