Meters Keep Police Busy...
ISSUE 637 TICKETS IN CITY DURING FIVE-WEEK PERIOD.
Despite the fact that Maquoketa police issued 637 parking meter violation tickets in a five-week period it is almost unanimously agreed that the installation of meters in Maquoketa has accomplished what many other parking ordinances failed to do. The 637 tickets were issued during the period November 21 to December 31 (1948), Chief of Police Jack Raab said today. Pictured above are Chief Raab and Peter Nissen, Delmar farmer, who was one of the first motorists here to pay for parking privileges.
