A PRETTY CHURCH WEDDING
About fifty immediate friends and relatives were guests at a pretty wedding at the Reformed church on Wednesday, October 28, when Viola Minnie Rohweder and Carl Frederick Jacobsen were united in marriage by Reb. D.F. Boomershine, using the beautiful and impressive double ring ceremony. Leone Nienkirck acted as flower girl.
Promptly at 2 p.m., as Zella Heinrich of Andrew played the beautiful Mendelssohn wedding march, the wedding party took their places in front of the altar where the words were spoken by the bride's pastor and the vows taken that made them husband and wife.
The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. Henry M. and Cecelia M. Rohweder, 9 miles east of Maquoketa, and is an amiable young lady and served faithfully and acceptably in the Frank Haight home for some time, and is well equipped by nature and training to assume the new duties of establishing a new home for the man of her choice. She wore a beautiful wedding gown of white canton crepe with a flowing tulle veil, and carried a shower bouquet of bride's reses and springaria fern, tied with white ribbon, knotted with white asters.
The groom is the only son of Chris N. Jacobsen, and is an industrious exemplary young man, a successful young farmer, and with his faithful helpmeet will surely be successful in his chosen occupation.
After the hearty well-wishes of the assembled guests the happy couple left for a short bridal trip among friends and relatives in Clinton and neighboring towns.
These worthy young people will be at home to their many friends after November 15 on the groom's father's farm 8 miles south of Maquoketa where all join in wishing them a long happy and successful life.
DATE OF WEDDING: October 28, 1925
