MAQUOKETANS CHOOSE MIDNIGHT AS WEDDING HOUR
Maquoketa. Nov. 20 - (AP)-
Mrs. Lena Stender and Louis Holtz planned to be married Tuesday afternoon at five o'clock. The guests had assembled, the clergyman had arrived, and finally the clock tolled 5 o'clock. But there was no wedding until after midnight.
When the prospective groom applied at the county court house for a wedding license, he learned that he had not been divorce for quite a year.
After several hours had elapsed, the year required by Iowa law had elapsed, and the ceremony took place early Wednesday morning. The Rev. E. A. Beaderman of the First Lutheran church of Maquoketa performed the ceremony.
Both bride and groom are between 60 and 70 years old.
WEDDING DATE: November 20, 1925
