The Cain’s
Anne Feeney was born in County Roscommon, Ireland in the late 1820’s or early 1830’s. When Anne was seven years old, she, her brother Mike and parents boarded a ship for America. During the crossing the mother died and shortly after arriving in Boston the father died-leaving Mike and Anne orphans.Mike stayed with his brother (who must have come to America earlier) and Anne lived with a Quaker family in Pennsylvania until she was eighteen, then she came to Iowa.
Michael Cain was born in County Cork, Ireland. Immigrating to America as a young man and worked as a stone mason.
Shortly after Anne Feeney came to Iowa she married Michael Cain. They are the parents of: John never married; Silas never married; Edmund never married; Nellie married Joe Lyman, had one daughter, Gladys; Mary Anne married Joe O’Connell, had one son, Homer; Grace Malinda never married; Margaret married James Cannon on Sept. 18, 1888. Michael Cain died April of 1911.
