Michael Kyne-Was born in Howard Co., Maryland in 1815. In 1742 he married Bridget Flaherty and they had eight children: Matthias, James, John, George, William, Thomas, Julia, and Mary. In 1854 he moved west and settled in Dubuque where he became owner of a bookstore. Soon afterwards he sold the store and engaged in mining, which he continued for five years. He was superintendent of the Office of Poor Relief for two years. In April 1865 he moved to Prairie Creek Township.
