John Mahoney
John Mahoney of Cedar Rapids, died at a hospital there at 9:30 o’clock last Wednesday evening as a result of injuries received in a fall from a ladder while working at his home.
Mr. Mahoney was born on a farm near Garryowen, Ia., on May 6, 1866, and in 1898 was married to Johanna Condon. He resided on the farm until 1913 when he moved to Cedar Rapids. In addition to his widow, he is survived by one son, Louis, three grandchildren, Robert, Jack and Jerry, all of Cedar Rapids, and two sisters, Mrs. William Stanton of Cascade, and Mrs. Jerry Crowley of Cedar Rapids.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus and the Immaculate Conception church of that city.
Funeral services were held in the Immaculate Conception church Saturday morning at nine o’clock conducted by Msgr. John Molloy. Burial was in St. Patrick’s cemetery in Garryowen with services in charge of Rev. Patrick F. Malone. The Rosary was said by member of St. Agnes Circle and the Knights of Columbus.
Pall bearers were Lloyd Stanton, Merlin Reddin, Dan Crowley, Charles Crowley, J. P. Grace, Joe Crowley. Honorary pall bearers were Stephen Brady, Charles Adams, Leo McDermott, Francis Wolf, Dan Martin and Wilford Conroy.
