Thomas Lambert
Member of Finance Committee of the Board of Education, was born on a farm near Sabula, Jackson county, Iwa, February 13, 1855. His father Thomas D. Lambert, was a native of Maine, and his mother, Sarah (Guenther) Lambert, was born in Pennsylvania. Received his education in a select school in Sabula, and has been a resident there from birth. In 1880 he entered the newspaper field, purchasing the Sabula Gazette, which he still owns. His political affiliation is with the democratic party, and served four years as city recorder, followed by eight successive terms as mayor of Sabula. He was justice of the peace over twenty years and secretary of the school board twenty-eight years. He was elected a member of the house of representatives in 1895 and 1897. Elected to the senate in 1899 and 1903, and served three sessions in the house and six in the senate. Served on the legislative commission appointed to investigate and report on the one board of management for the state educational institutions. Was a delegate to the democratic national convention in 1888. On August 3, 1883, he was united in marriage with Miss Jennie Cotton of Sabula.
