"Miss Annie" Langham Observes 97th Birthday

Annie Langham quietly observed her 97th birthday Wednesday, March 14, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Samuelson, at 315 West Pleasant Street, where she has lived since 1871.

Miss Langham came to America in 1869 at the age of 15 and lived with relatives at Elwood. Two years later she came to live with Mrs. Samuelson's grandmother, Mrs. Mary Shellenberger. She has been with the family ever since. Considered one of the oldest residents in Maquoketa, she has been blind for the past six years and bedfast since December.
