Military discharges-Gene Hayes and Joe Elsner

Gene Hayes, a member of the Hospital Corps, at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, received his honorable discharge Saturday and arrived home. Mr. Hayes is the second son of Mrs. Thomas Hayes of Otter Creek and just lacked a couple of days of being a year in the service of the United States of America.

Joe Elsner of Maquoketa, who last week returned from the central part of Russia, came up Labor Day and visited his uncle, Charlie Veach and family and took in a picnic. Mr. Elsner was a member of the Engineer Corps and previous to his enlistment about a year and a half ago was telegraph operator at Hale, Iowa.
