FORMER CITIZEN COMES TO GRIEF
Montana Justice Overtakes Man Who Misappropriated Neighbor's Cattle

FIFTEEN YEARS IN PENITENTIARY
Record In These Parts Was Not Above Suspicion and Present Trouble No Surprise

Many residents of this vicinity will remember Frank Sutherland, who removed to Montana three years ago and who was prior to that time associated with Art Stebbins in the stock business in Baldwin. Sutherland was involved while in this neighborhood in one or more transactions which reflected seriously on his personal integrity and he left here somewhat under a cloud.

Recently word has come to Lost Nation that Sutherland is in trouble of a very serious character. According to newspaper clippings he was detected in the crime of stealing cattle, tried, convicted and sentenced to the Montana penitentiary for a term of fifteen years.

Just prior to departing for Montana, Sutherland was under suspicion of having guilty knowledge of the disappearance of ten head of cattle from a herd of one hundred, belonging to Mr. Stebbins and that these suspicions were justified is pretty well established by his recent escapade in the west. Fifteen years in the penitentiary seems like rather severe punishment for the crime alleged to have been committed, but in the far west where cattle raising is the dominant industry, manslaughter is a petty offense compared to cattle rustling.
