Mike Mahony-

There are two or three Mahony Republicans in this city who have taken the pains to send word to the Republican press asking that the throwing of mud at Sheriff Mike Mahony be stopped on the ground that it was driving men out of the party. So far as this paper is concerned, it does not desire to throw mud at Mike, but do not believe him entitled to any more office and shall continue to tell why we think so. Some men are not hard to drive when they want to go.

Mike Mahony’s heelers are hard at work trying to convince the voters that their favorite is the only man for Sheriff. We wonder what sort of an argument they are able to advance to show why Mike should have two or possibly four years of office on top of the sixteen for which he has already drawn fat pay.
