Rev. G. R. Manning-
We regret, in common with all our citizens, that Rev. G. R. Manning, for the past six years in charge of the Methodist Episcopal Church of this place, will soon close his labors here, in accordance with the rules of the church, and be assigned to another locality.
When Rev. Manning came here the society was weakened by internal dissensions, which he soon healed, and then began the Herculean task of raising means to build the handsome and costly church on the corner of Maple and Second streets. By his untiring energy and personal popularity he was successful and the building will stand for generations as an evidence of what one man can do when his efforts are properly directed.
Rev. Manning will leave the church here much stronger and prosperous than ever before, and wherever he may be called to labor, will carry with him the best wishes of all classes of our citizens.
