ROBERT L. BLESH, of the firm of Wolf & Blesh, brick manufacturers, Maquoketa; is a native of Germany; born in April, 1842; his parents emigrated to America when he was very young; came to Iowa and located in Jackson Co. in 1847; he lived in Tete des Morts Township until 1854, when he went to Rock Island Co., Ill.; he enlisted in the 126th I.V.I., Co. E; he was at the sieges of Vicksburg and Little Rock, and in many fights and skirmishes; he served three years; after the war he returned to this county; he associated with Mr. Wolf and engaged in manufacturing brick, and they make an excellent quality. He married Miss Etta Springer, from Canada, in 1871; they have two children - Caddie and Archie. - 1879 History of Jackson County Iowa, pg 622.
