Maquoketa Sentinel, April 21, 1868.

OUR NEW COUNTY OFFICERS

We are pleased to hear the almost universal testimony of approbation, which is given of our new County Officers.

J. S. DARLING, ESQ., the new County Judge, is highly praised for his prompt attention to the business of the county, and for the honest desire which he manifests that justice shall be meted out to all suitors at his court.

MR. J. A. BRYAN, proves to be one of the most urbane and gentlemanly to say nothing of his superior qualifications as a first class accountant that ever filled the office of County Treasurer. In truth he is the right man in the right place. Long may he wave.

MR. PHALON, the new Superintendent of schools is infusing new energy into this important branch of public service over which he presides

MR. M. S. ALLEN, our new Sheriff is winning golden opinions from all parties. In fact Morris is just the man for the position. A good penman, accurate, and possessing the best of judgment, no better selection could have been made. If Mr. Allen is again a candidate at the expiration of his term he will be elected by not less than Five Hundred Majority-mark this prediction.

The county may well congratulate itself that its interests for the current two years have been committed to such worthy and competent heads,
