The Democratic County Convention which met at Andrew last Saturday, was largely attended, every township in the county but two being represented by full delegations.

The nominee of the convention for Clerk of Courts, Mr. John C. Guilfoil, is too well known to the people of the county to need an introduction at our hands. It will be remembered that he, two years ago, ran for the same office, and was defeated only by the most glaring treachery on the part of men whom he had every reason to suppose were his fast friends. There is no doubt that he owes his nomination again to the desire, which was freely expressed among the delegates, of righting the wrong; done him, two years ago, and was sincerely believed they will do it. Mr. Guilfoil’s qualifications are of the highest order, his Democracy is unquestioned, and we shall use all the ability we possess to secure for him the united support of his party which is all that is necessary to assure his triumphant election.

The nominee for Recorder, Mr. Christopher Webber, of Bellevue, is a gentleman with whom we have no personal acquaintance, but those who do know him speak of him as in every way worthy the honor conferred upon him. In his case the office has certainly sought the man, for he was not present at the convention, and the first intimation he had that he was even thought of for the position was the announcement to him of this nomination.
