DAVID PURINTON - farmer, Sec. 3; P.O. Low Moor; was born in Danbury,Conn., in 1823; removed thence, with his father, to Saratoga Co., N.Y., in 1826; he was a seafaring man till 1851, when he came to Iowa from California, first settling in Jackson Co.; in 1869, he removed to Clinton Co, where he has since resided; he has a farm of 240 acres, on which he has resided and made some improvements. He married, in Warren Co., N.Y., in 1852, Miss Lydia J. Moore, a native of that State; they have six children - John, Amanda (now Mrs. George Powell), George, Mary, Sidney and Jane. Mr. P. is a member of the A.,F.&A.M. and I.O.O.F; he was in the United States Army and marine service for some years; he was with Commodore Biddle when he was sent over to make the treaty with Japan - the first expedition sent out by the Government. Mr. P. is a Repulican.
