Jackson County. – The Galena Advertiser says of the nomination of Andrew G. Henderson of Maquoketa, as Representative for Jackson County. “Mr. Henderson is a printer by trade, and for a number of years worked as such in this office. He is of the old Scotch Cameroonian stock, is a native of Pennsylvania, came to the West in 1834, to Galena in 1843, and in 1853 he removed to Iowa, where he has since resided. We know him and have seldom known a man of more thorough integrity and unyielding principle. On political questions he is sound and clear; his judgment is good, and he has a large fund of general intelligence. The county is claimed to be Democratic; but if Mr. Henderson is defeated, as we trust he will not be, they will reject the services of a most capable, honorable and upright man. We hope our Republican friends there will spare no efforts within the compass of just propriety to secure his election.”
