Jackson Sentinel, Maquoketa, Iowa, October 15, 1891.
Candidate for Coroner-
Dr. C. W. Miller, of Preston, who has filled the office of coroner so creditably for the past three years, was born of German parentage in the county of Tuscarawas, Ohio, in the year 1860. At the age of thirteen he left home and from that time he has been dependent upon his own exertions alone. For four years he was a student at Valpariaso and was graduated in 1883. He then accepted the position of principal of the Preston schools, which position he held for two years. He attended the State University of Iowa for two years, being graduated from the medical department in 1887. He then came to Maquoketa and entered into a partnership with Dr. Bowen for the practice of medicine. After about three years this partnership was dissolved and Dr. Miller moved to Preston, at which place he is successfully practicing now. He is a man who feels the responsibility of any position conferred upon him and performs his duty honestly and faithfully. Although he makes no great display of his political belief, he is a democrat of staunch principles.
