Leslie ... your best bet woud be to write to the clerk of the court and ask for his probate record. There may not have been a will and if that is what you ask for, they will not tell you that there are several pages relating to the probate of his estate. It is possible, however, that the estate did not have to be probated because of its value. You would have to check to see what the law required as regards the value of the estate that would require that a probate of the estate be done.

I was in Iowa county a few years ago and they were most helpful there. It is a small community and the courthouse is not huge and their records are, or were, very well kept. I got to handle them and consult the indexes myself and then they gave me help getting the required volumes I needed.
