Alice W. Eichacker, 95, of Amana, formerly of Homestead, died Monday morning, Sept. 5, 2005, in Colonial Manor Care Center following an extended illness. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Middle Amana Community Church, by Elder Emilie Hoppe. Burial: Amana Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Middle Amana Community Church. Arrangements by Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.

Memorials may be donated to the charity of the donor's choice.

Survivors include a son, R.C. Eichacker of Middle Amana; two daughters, Dorothy Riepe of Vinton and Rosalie Henry (Dale) of Amana; and nine grandchildren, Becky Williams (John), Tim Scheurs Jan), Pam Brandt (Tom), Nina Scott (Gary), Eric Eichacker (Julie), Sara Paul (Terry), Susan Martens (Doug), Robert Henry (Pam) and Patrick Henry (Debra).

Also surviving are 28 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Louise Leonhardt Haldy; her husband, Charles on June 25, 1984; two sisters, Nora Ackerman and Helen Kippenhan; a half brother, Leonard Haldy; and a son-in-law, Robert Riepe.

Alice W. Haldy was born May 6, 1910, in Middle Amana, the daughter of Henry and Louise Mehlhorn Haldy. She received her education in the Amana schools and married Charles Eichacker on Dec. 17, 1931, in Homestead. Alice was a postal clerk at the Homestead Post Office for over 30 years. She was a member of the Amana Church Society and the Homestead Welfare Club. She, along with her husband, operated a hobby ceramics business for many years.
