Marie E. Baumgartel, age 90, died Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at Colonial Manor Care Center, Middle Amana, following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 20, 2005, Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana with Elder Kristie Cutler officiating. Burial will be in the Amana Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday, August 19, 2005 at the Middle Amana Church. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her son, Steve and his wife Linda of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Amy Jacobson and husband Shawn, Robert Jeck and wife Cindy, Erin Springer and husband Aaron, and Molly Jones and husband Mark; and two great-grandchildren, Emilie Marie and Jonathan Robert Jacobson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur in 1994, a daughter Marilyn Jeck in 2001, and a brother, Leonard, Jr. in 1997.

Marie Elizabeth Graf was born May 1, 1915 in Amana, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard Graf Sr. and Emily Bang Graf. She received her education in the Amana schools and married Arthur C. Baumgartel on November 5, 1938 in Amana. Arthur died on September 3, 1994. Marie was employed at the Amana Woolen Mill and also worked at the Amana Meat Market for many years. She was a member of the Amana Community Church; the Amana Heritage Society; the Amana Arts Guild and was a lifelong member of the AWA. She enjoyed needlepoint, rug crocheting, and baking cakes (Angel Food). She loved being around people.
