Helen M. Kraus, 90, Valparaiso, Ind., died July 24, 2014, at Golden Living Care Facility, Valparaiso.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Iowa.

Memorials may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 332 W. Hwy. 30, Suite E, Valparaiso, Ind. 46385 or St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1928 V Ave., Homestead, Iowa 52236.

Helen Marie Kraus was born in West Amana, the daughter of Elizabeth (Miller) and Richard Berger. She graduated from Amana High School and cosmetology school in Des Moines.

She married George Kraus Sept. 30, 1944, and they celebrated 65 years of marriage prior to his death Aug. 14, 2011.

She worked as a beautician and later was the helpmate to her husband in their Old Style Colony Winery, Middle Amana. She was an active Christian by faith and a supportive wife and mother.

Kraus is survived by her children, Donna Kraus, Kandyce Kraus Hannon and Dennis Kraus; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Kraus and Helen Kraus Schuerer and a brother-in-law, Harold Schuerer.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
